Recent floods in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Austria, have caused significant devastation. Record-high rainfall from a low-pressure system led to rivers overflowing, breaching dams, and forcing mass evacuations. As of mid-September 2024, the flooding has claimed at least 16 lives across the region, including five in Romania, four in Poland, and three in the Czech Republic.
In the face of these devastating floods, Sewa Europe stands together in strength and resilience. Though the waters have risen, so too has the spirit of communities, neighbours, and disaster management team of Sewa Europe, uniting all by compassion and support. These challenging times remind us of our shared humanity, and how, through every hardship, we have the power to rebuild, restore, and renew.
To all those affected, you are not alone. The road ahead may be difficult, but with the collective effort of kind hearts and helping hands, together we will emerge stronger than ever. Together, we will rise above the waters, rebuild our homes, and restore our communities. Courage, unity, and solidarity will carry us through this storm.
In moments like these, we see the best in one another. We continue to offer support, join us, and lend strength to those in need.
Poland and Eastern Europe, you have weathered storms before, and once again, you will rise resilient. The flood may challenge us, but it will not break us. Together, we will rebuild with love and determination.
